Biostimulants are a useful addition to fertiliser

Biostimulants are a mixture of substances and microorganisms that are specifically designed to maintain plant health. Alongside fungi and bacteria, other biostimulants include organic acids, algae and plant extracts and inorganic substances.

Although biostimulants are subject to the Austrian Fertiliser Act, they do not have the properties of a fertiliser. Instead, they stimulate natural processes that promote plants’ nutrient absorption and nutrient efficiency. In addition to improving soil life and increasing the growth of fine roots, they also support the health of plants and their resistance to abiotic stress. The use of biostimulants together with organic fertiliser is a sustainable and natural way of improving the soil and promoting plant health and quality.
