to reregistereMB Active promotes odour-free decomposition of persistent substances in composting, waste water and sewage sludge treatment. eMB Active is widely used in waste water and waste management. It can be used in cesspits, septic tanks, small sewage works and municipal sewage works. It is either sprayed with water or mixed with odour intensive substances to eliminate bad odours. Complies with EU directive 2092/91 appendix II A, as amended, and may be used in organic farming.
Individually approved according to § 9a DMG 1994.
Listed in the InfoXgen catalogue of materials for organic farming.
eMB Active contains water, lactic acid and photosynthetic bacteria, yeasts and hydrocarbon processing bacteria, sugar cane molasses, ceramic powder.

applications.show_detailsRegular spraying permanently reduces the build up of bad odours.
applications.show_detailsThis application creates an environment in which filamentous bacteria - responsible for formation of floating sludge - cannot survive. This eliminates bulking and floating sludge.

applications.show_detailsMarkus Wendler began managing sewage works in 2007. His customers are more than satisfied with the EM results. "Initially they are all sceptical and would prefer to use chemical agents. But as soon as they see the success of using EM, they are all delighted.
Not only does the small sewage works run smoothly again, but bad odours are almost totally eliminated and sewage sludge formation is reduced.“
For a long time Ahrntal and, in particular, Sand in Taufers have tried to juggle the requirements of a region which focuses heavily on both agriculture and tourism. Searching for a solution to this problem, a group of dedicated people from our community, mainly primary and middle school teachers as well as some community leaders and the composting site, initiated the use of Effective Microorganisms about 2 years ago.
EM is short for Effective Microorganisms. They consist of a mixture of beneficial, naturally occurring microorganisms, such as yeast, lactic acid cultures and photosynthesis bacteria, which have also been used to prepare and conserve food since time immemorial.
In composting, EM can almost totally eliminate bad odours (H2S, NH4 etc.). In the following video, Mr Hintsteiner explains how EM us used in biological waste processing and the benefits it brings.
Effective Microorganisms and micro-nutrients assist the microbiology working in the sewage works and improve the metabolic processes. This leads to greater oxygen availability and fewer problems with floating and bulking sludge.
