The lunar calendar: plants in harmony with the moon

The EM lunar calendar

For thousands of years, people have been using the moon and its cycles to help them identify the best time for certain activities. The lunar calendar is based on the moon’s orbit around the earth. Depending on which constellation the moon is in, it influences the growth of plants and determines when plants should be planted, sown and harvested. The EM lunar calendar is based on the experience of gardeners and farmers that has been built up over centuries and is still valid today. It recommends the best time for doing specific jobs in the garden. Using the EM lunar calendar, you will never miss the best moment to make Effective Microorganisms active (basic product).

The influence of the moon on plants and gardeners

The Multikraft lunar calendar is based on the calculations of Maria Thun (1922 – 2012). Lunar gardeners work on the assumption that the moon influences not only large bodies of water, but also small ones, Such as the sap in plants. For lunar gardeners, it is not just the position of the moon that has a decisive effect. Depending on the constellation that the moon is currently in, fruit, root, flower and leaf days are identified, which are favourable for working with specific groups of plants.

In our calendar, these four groups are shown in the following colours:

  • Red represents fruiting plants (fruit days)
  • Brown represents root plants (root days)
  • Pink represents flowering plants (flower days)
  • Green represents leafy plants (leaf days)
