Franz TschiggerlEM use in broiler husbandry
|
"Operating a husbandry in a village location poses one major problem for many farmers — odour nuisance. And, of course, we had difficulties with the problem ourselves. It wasn't just the people living in the village who suffered from the stench, but both us and the chickens as well. It got so bad that our eyes would become irritated when cleaning out the chicken coops and we had to wear masks. This was due to the excessively high ammonia levels in the air in the chicken coops.
We came across Effective Microorganisms by pure chance in 2000. And we were immediately impressed by the effects. We work with EM in several stages: Firstly, we carefully spray an EM-Solution to clean the chicken coops. Before returning the chickens to the coops, we spray the bedding so that the chicks come into contact with EM right away. And we spray down the entire coop at regular intervals. We have noticed that this is one of the most important stages of the process, as it enables the chicks to take in EM directly via the mucous membranes. And the final stage in the process is to dispense Fermented Herbs Extract via the drinking water and feed.
Using EM has several benefits: The air in the chicken coops has been significantly improved, resulting in a better quality of life for humans and animals alike. The chickens have a more even carcase and weight. EM also brings major financial benefits. Poultry keeping is often viewed with a particularly critical eye. It is therefore extremely important for us to prove the critics wrong and show that alternatives are available. Healthy chickens are the key to our success."
