Prof. Ravi Sangakkara
- Born on 14. 02. 1951 in Candy, Sri Lanka
- Trinity College, Candy (1958 - 1971) – Ryde Gold Medal 1971 (best all-round pupil)
- Completed studies in agriculture at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (1972 - 1976)
- Doctoral thesis on plant science and ecology at the Massey University, New Zealand (1979 - 1983)
- Post-doctoral research in Canada, Belgium, Great Britain, Member of the Royal Society
- Visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (since 1993) as well as the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna (since 2005)
So far, Prof. Sangakkara has written over 170 scientific papers, of which 12 papers were on the use of Effective Microorganisms in agriculture, that have been published at international conferences (e.g. IFOAM) since 1992.
Since he first experienced microorganisms being used professionally, especially in organic farming, Prof. Ravi Sangakkara has organised numerous international conferences on the topic of nature farming and works in close collaboration with Multikraft.
