Pig husbandry

Effective Microorganisms (EM) have a positive effect on CO2, NH3, N2O and TOC emissions, as was proven in a BOKU study, carried out together with the Federal Research Institute for Agriculture in Alpine Regions Gumpenstein. Find out more about Effective Microorganisms (EM) work for you under 'Details'. The regenerative bacteria cultures not only ensure an ideal barn climate, but increase appetite and feed conversion, well-being and the level of resistance of your animals.

Pig farmer Alois Niederl confirms that the animals' health is improved significantly with Multikraft Fermented Herbs Extract (FHE) and Topdress: His practical experience:

  • The veterinary costs could be reduced by 60%,
  • the odour reduced.
  • The performance has been stabilised.

Even in animal husbandry: you are what you eat. That’s why we only process pure, natural raw materials in our feedstuff as a matter of course. After all, the animal’s health depends on its care and food. With Multikraft feedstuff, you can make a valuable contribution to the health of your animals

em in Farm animal Husbandry

The roots of the company, founded in 1977, lie in farm animal husbandry and feedstuff production – Multikraft offers more than 30 years of experience in this area.

"At the end of the 90s, we came across Effective Microorganisms. The first attempts in animal husbandry had already created very promising results," says Ulrike Hader, Managing Director of Multikraft Produktions- und HandelsgmbH.

Positive effects on barn climate, slurry, liquid and solid manure

Flies only lay their eggs in rotting matter as this provides nourishment for the larvae. The use of Effective Microorganisms (EM) in the entire barn prevents decay-forming processes and, as a logical consequence, removes the habitat for fly larvae. Therefore, the use of Effective Microorganisms measurably improves the barn climate.

The Effective Microorganisms' repression of decay-forming processes also has a positive effect in other areas of animal husbandry. Slurry and liquid and solid manure are significantly less odorous and are compatible with soil and plants by using EM.

Increased vitality, better feed intake

Used in feed, Multikraft Fermented Herbs Extract (FHE) and Topdress improve the feed intake of the animals and have a positive effect on the vitality of the animals. According to practical reports, positive microorganisms are cultivated in the gut – this strengthens the immune system and thus the animal's resistance. Vitalised and healthy animals lower your operational costs, whilst at the same time daily growth and quality increases.

The effects of Effective Microorganisms on the barn climate

Even in pig husbandry (piglet, feeding pig and breeding sow), the pigs’ faeces lead to strong odours developing. The smell is caused by the decomposition process and hangs in the air in the form of harmful substances. These substances, such as ammonia, nitrous oxide, methane, etc. are metabolised with the help of Effective Microorganisms. These significantly reduce the unpleasant odours, visibly reduce problems of flies in the barn, avoid stressful situations and protect the respiratory tract. Another positive side effect is that the manure or slurry which was produced using EM, has little odour and is rich in nutrients.

Barn cleaning

When cleaning the barn with Effective Microorganisms, regenerative microorganisms colonise the barn.

This prevents the development of decomposition, odours and plagues of flies.

Spraying the EM in the barn

Quality per m² barn space

0.1 l / m² EM-Solution at a ratio of 1 : 9 (0.01 l EM-Active + 0.09 l water) during the warm season.

Dilute 0.01 l / m² EM-Active with the amount of water that is technically necessary in the cool season.

Frequency

1. month: at least 3 – 4 times / week

Then: 1 – 2 times / week

Fix-mounted fumigation jets with timer switches are ideal. They spray every half hour in summer and every hour in winter.

Slurry, manure and liquid manure treatment

Treating slurry, liquid manure or fresh manure with EM-Active prevents the development of decomposition, odours and plagues of flies. Effective Microorganisms optimise the flow of slurry and liquid manure and prevents the formation of floating and sinking layers.

Add at least 1 – 2 l EM-Active / m³ material (depending on the content of ingredients), ideally once a week via the slurry/liquid manure canals or to the solid manure.

We recommend that you add extra-fine basal rock dust.

Dosage: 1 – 2 kg / m³ material.

Activate water with EM-Ceramics

EM-Ceramics is recommended to improve the water quality. EM-Ceramics causes the water cluster to shrink, whereby nutrients and minerals can be introduced into the cells more easily and and can remove harmful substances from the body more easily.

Water treatment with EM-Ceramics:

installation of a water reactor with EM-Ceramic 35 mm Pipes to the water supply or attach EM-Ceramic grey Pipes combined with EM-Ceramic 35 mm Pipes in the pressurised tank or fountain. Quantity depending on water usage.

3 steps for a cleaner habitat for your animals:

  1. Pour eMC Power Cleaner at a ratio of 1:100 into the filling equipment for the high-pressure cleaner.
  2. Thoroughly clean and wash out the barn. (Do not forget the corners and gaps – heavy bacterial colonisation!)
  3. Then spray with EM-Solution: 0.15 l / m² EM-Active: Spray 0.5 l water
evenly over the entire barn – do not forget ventilation shafts, gaps in the roof, etc.
