Fish farming

Clear view

To guarantee an amazing environment for the fish, the pond and slime health in particular should be improved.

Organic slime is reduced and pathogenic bacteria in the water and slime eliminated. Treatment with Effective Microorganisms can also combat biogases (H2S, NH3 etc.) and the oxygen balance in the water can be kept stably high. Oxygen-depleting measures can be temporarily balanced too.

Increases the yield, while reducing operational costs:

  • clear water
  • good, stable fish stock
  • less stress for the fish
  • Feed conversion and total growth increase
  • meaning limited failures (in breeding fish)
  • Slime creation is significantly reduced
  • Labour costs for cleaning the containers of stretch equipment are clearly lower.

Instructions

Feeding fish

Adding Topdress optimises the feed conversion of the fish. It also increases the stability of the feed.

Dosage: administer approx. 2% of the feed quantity to the Topdress.

It has proven especially valuable for preparing food to mix Topdress with the food and store in an air-tight environment.

Production systems

– add 2 l EM-Active / 10 m³ water to the pond approx. 14 days before stocking.

- every 10 to 14 days 1 l EM-Active / 10 m³.

Roughing device

0.5 l EM-Active / week and breeding container (1,000 l), a constant inflow and outflow of the water in the container must be guaranteed = change approx. every 3 hours

Using EM-Ceramics

Using EM-Ceramics (EM-Ceramic grey Pipes combined with EM-Ceramic 35 mm Pipes) accelerates the decomposition of organic substances – by reducing the water cluster and thus reducing the water’s surface tension – and leads to sustainable improvement of the water quality. Always install EM-Ceramics in moving parts of the pond (i.e. at the end of waterways, at fountains, etc.) so that the water can flow through the EM-Ceramics and energise.

Timing of EM use

How often should EM be used?

During the first year, every 4 weeks during the pond season, so that the regenerative microorganisms in the slime become dominant and suppress the decomposing bacteria.

If oxygen-depleting organic slime is converted to a health red-brown odourless slime, the EM treatment can be reduced to 3 – 5 times a year.

If the aim is rapid slime decomposition with Effective Microorganisms, treatment can also occur every two weeks. Use in 2 week intervals is very intensive and can only be performed if the stocking level is low, because oxygen depletion in polluted ponds could be too extreme otherwise.

Quantities and average frequency of use:

Quantity per ha. (if under 5 ha.):

100 l EM-Active

10 l eMB Starter

Quantity of 5 ha. and more:

80 l EM-Active (per hectare)

10 l eMB Starter (per hectare)

Quantity of 10 ha. and more:

60 l EM-Active (per hectare)

10 l eMB Starter (per hectare)

Instructions:

Mix EM-Active and eMB Starter with water then dilute so that the solution can be optimally used on the entire pond surface. Mix the specified quantity of EM-Active and eMB Starter with pond water at a ratio of at least 1:5 and spray on the pond surface. Warning: Do not reduce the quantity of EM-Active and eMB Starter!

Additional annual treatment:

10 kg Slime Balance per ha. weighted down in bags (as Slime Balance Bags) or allowed to sink to the floor loose.

EM to remove slime and odours

In the case of massive slime occurrences, organic slime or strongly smelling slime, apply a special treatment (see above for quantity) to the pond every 1 – 2 weeks.

Important information:

This treatment is so intensive that it can increase oxygen depletion in the affected pond. Therefore it can only be performed when the pond is not too intensively used for fish breeding. In the case of fish breeding, there must be four-week intervals between treatment.
