Fruit cultivation

Success in fruit cultivation primarily depends on soil fertility. The Effective Microorganisms promote regenerative microorganisms and organisms in the soil. They help to convert organic materials into nutrients that are available for plants and create an environment in which the pathogenic bacteria and pests are removed from their habitat.

Effective Microorganisms help to significantly increase soil fertility and increase plants’ growth and resistance. This treatment provides possibilities for organic substances that were gathered during the harvest to benefit plants in the soil again. This causes a reduction in operational costs, while at the same time increasing quality and yield.

The effects of Effective Microorganisms in fruit cultivation

Increases the harvest, while reducing operational costs, because:

  • the health and fertility of the soil is promoted
  • the development of the humus (formation of the clay-humus complex) is increased
  • the biological activity of the soil is vitalised – many worms populate the earth
  • the moisture and nutrient retention capacity of the soil is improved
  • thanks to the quicker warming of the earth in spring, vegetation begins earlier (EM earth is 3 – 4 °C warmer)
  • root growth is simulated and the plants’ level of resistance is increased
  • fertiliser costs are reduced thanks to more readily available nutrients

Better quality fruits, because:

  • fruits look better and have better colouring.
  • the fruits are characterised by their outstanding taste.
  • the fruits mature more evenly and are of a standard size.
  • the fruits contain more antioxidants and bioactive substances such as vitamins, trace elements, etc.
  • few crop shortfalls
  • The harvest can be stored for much longer.

Instructions

Seedling treatment

To encourage root formation in young trees, the roots are quickly dipped in an EM-Solution of 1:100 (EM-Active: water) and then sprinkled with basal rock dust and EM Ceramic powder (4:1).

Regular spraying of fruit trees

Regular spraying with Effective Microorganisms increases the fruit trees’ resistance power, i.e. they are less susceptible to disease and pests. The Effective Microorganisms create an environment on the surface of the trees that viruses avoid. The basal rock dust forms an additional housing for the Effective Microorganisms and the silicon in the basal rock dust optimises the effectiveness of the solar radiation. The EM-Ceramic Powder causes constant growth in the fruits.

1. Before blossoming:

Basic treatment per ha.

30 l EM-Active

400 l water

5 kg extra-fine basal rock dust

Additional intensive treatment (in the case of high pest and/or fungal infection strain) per ha

1 kg EM-Ceramic Powder

1 l MK 5

1 l Fermented Plant Extract

Stir the extra-fine basal rock dust and the EM-Ceramic Powder with a small amount of EM-Active into a smooth, liquid matter. As soon as all of the stone dust has been dissolved, the rest of the EM-Active and the water and, if necessary, additional MK 5 and Fermented Plant Extract are added. A high-pressure sprayer with a continuous agitator suspends the powder.

Frequency: Once before the blossom

Additional intensive treatment (in the case of high pest and/or fungal infection strain) per ha

0.5 kg EM-Ceramic Powder

Frequency: Every 14 days until the harvest. To avoid grey traces on the fruits, stop adding EM-Ceramic Powder and basal rock dust to the spray solution 4 – 6 weeks before the harvest.

4. After the leaves fall, but before the first frost:

Basic treatment per ha.

40 l EM-Active

400 l water

As soon as all of the stone dust has been dissolved, the rest of the EM-Active and the water and, if necessary, additional MK 5 and Fermented Plant Extract are added. A high-pressure sprayer with a continuous agitator suspends the powder.

Frequency: once before the leaves fall

Time: spray in the morning or evening, not in direct sunlight.

Add Bokashi (EM compost) to improve the soil

Bokashi gives the soil lots of organic compounds. Spraying with EM-Active creates a stable environment more quickly and promotes the conversion of the organic compounds into topsoil.

Do you want to produce Bokashi yourself? Here are the instructions.

First step: Spread self-manufactured Bokashi and basal rock dust under the fruit trees.

Quantity per ha.

3 – 5 t Bokashi, depending on the material available

1 – 2 t basal rock dust

Second step: After applying the Bokashi, spray or water the soil with the following EM-Solution and work into the soil.

In fruit cultivation, mulching is an alternative to working into the soil.

Quantity per ha.

100 l EM-Active

600 l water (activated with EM-Ceramics)

Additional intensive treatment (in the case of high pest and/or fungal infection strain) per ha:

2 kg EM-Ceramic Powder

Stir the EM-Ceramic Powder with a small amount of EM-Active into a smooth, liquid matter.

A high-pressure sprayer with a continuous agitator suspends the powder.

Time and frequency: perform this soil improvement procedure once in Autumn or in Spring.

Water with EM-Solution (alternative to the Bokashi variety) to improve the soil.

Instead of applying Bokashi, spray or water the following solution:

Quantity per ha.

10 kg EM-Ceramic Powder

400 l EM-Active

2000 l water

Also apply 1 – 2 t of basal rock dust every 2 years. (Alternatively, 40 kg of extra-fine basal rock dust can be mixed into this EM-Solution and sprayed out.)

Completely dissolve the EM-Ceramic Powder in a small amount of EM-Active, then stir into all the EM-Active and water. A high-pressure sprayer with a continuous agitator suspends the ceramic powder.

Time and frequency: perform this soil improvement procedure once in Autumn or in Spring.

Mulch treatment to improve the soil

Spray EM-Solution at a ratio of : 10 (EM-Active: water) when mulching.

Dosage for each mulch process:

Quantity per ha.

60 l EM-Active

600 l water

Time: Mulch in the morning dew or in the evening, not in strong sunlight.

Coat tree trunk

Applying the paste to the tree trunk stops pests that hibernate in the trunk and closes lesions, or entrances for fungi and bacteria and stops their spores. The sunlight is strongly reflected by the paste’s light grey colour, which reduces variations in temperature.

1 part EM-Ceramic Powder,

5 parts extra-fine basal rock dust

mix into a paste with EM-Active and cellulose wallpaper paste or sodium silicate.

Time and frequency: In autumn or until mid-March, once a year

Watering

Water quantity varies depending on type of fruit tree, moisture conditions and ground conditions

Mixture ratio:

1 l of EM-Active to 1000 l of irrigation water (1:1000) or 30 l EM-Active / ha. / week
